_'Umar bin Al-Khattāb (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that Rasūllullah ﷺ said, "Should anyone fall asleep at night and fail to recite his portion (of the Qur'ān) or a part of it, if he recites it between the Fajr prayer and the Dhuhr prayer, it will be recorded for him as though he had recited it during the night"._ [Muslim].
The hadīth above refers to when one falls asleep without completing their fixed portion of recital of the Qur'ān or any additional zikr (ma'mūlāt). In such a case, making up for it anytime between Fajr and Dhuhr will make it as though he recited it during the night.
We should have a habit of fixing certain ma'mūlāt throughout the day as this will be a means of building our connection with Allah ﷻ. This is also the purpose of bay'ah (giving allegiance to a spiritual mentor).
It shouldn’t be such that, one pledges an allegiance with a shaykh, and thereafter he just remains idle by not praying anything.
We must make an effort to pray additional ma'mūlāt in the morning, even if we go to work. If one has time after Dhuhr, one can fix things to pray. Likewise, even after Maghrib and 'Ishā' salah.
Rasūlullah ﷺ wouldn’t sleep until he had prayed Sūrah Alif Lām Mīm Sajdah and Sūrah Mulk. A person who doesn’t pray will become weak in the religion.
Ma'mūlāt and Wazhā’if (litanies) are a means of keeping us connected to the Deen. Be so steadfast with them, like the way one is towards Fardh prayers. Unfortunately, we have come to a stage that people are not steadfast on this and it has resulted in them being neglectful with Salāh too. Many complete the Fardh prayer but are neglectful towards Sunnah Mu’akkadah prayer. Think: What face will we show Rasūlullah ﷺ when we are neglectful of his Sunnah? Please convey this message on to others who are neglecting Sunnah.
Fix authentic litanies upon yourself and don’t ever forget it. If a person is ill and unable to pray that day, he can complete it the next day. However, don’t make it a habit to delay. There are many people who are so habitual in praying and this results them not feeling at ease until they have completed their recitations and litanies.
Our main focus is to stay away from all type of sins, be it backbiting, unlawful glance etc. Through these prayers, one will be guided and motivated to stay away from sin. Unlawful glances can lead to a bad death.
*توبہ کے ساتھ زندگی گزارو*
_“Live your life along with doing repentance.”_
The Sahabah worked and still prayed these litanies. We must never have an excuse that “I work and therefore I can’t make time to pray.” Whatever we know by memory can be prayed from memory and those that need to be sat and prayed can be done sitting.
This will please Allah ﷻ and result in a connection with Him. Such a connection will be developed, that when one feels inclined to sinning, Allah ﷻ will make something come in between to prevent one from carrying out the sin.
If we spend life productively, then our life will have a value to it and it will be fruitful. A day will come when we will leave the world. Take lessons loooking at those who are passing away before us. We need not to be fearful of death, but rather prepare for death. Everything will perish in the world. People have lived long lives but in the end they all died. ‘You may wish to live a thousand years but even after that you will certainly die.’ Fortunate are those who are steadfast with the Sunnah.
```May Allah ﷻ grant us the ability to practise on everything that has been said. Āmīn```
