Hadhrat Maulana Adam Sahib DB 11th January 2015 Islahi Majlis - Sunday It is not a sin to wear nice clothes. If you have enough money you should wear nice clothes. Imam Abu Hanifa RA once had a student who wore very old clothes. So Imam Abu Hanifa offered him money. the student said he had a lot of money and was not in need of it. So the Imam said to him that he should wear good clothes then. As long as you don't develop pride, you should wear nice clothes. Make sure you don't have Riyaa: The people of tableegh say, you should assess your self at the beginning, middle and end. This is the teaching of Maulana Ilyas RA. When someone starts doing Ibadat, there isn't any Riyaa [ostentation], then in the middle and end it could easily develop. Even once you are fifty years old, still continuously assess your self. Sometimes some people, in order to stay away from Riyaa, they worship in private. Then afterwards start thinking high of themselves that they worship in private. Riyaa enters the heart so easily. So we need to keep assessing ourselves. There won't be Riyaa in fardh salah because everyone performs it. But in other worship there could easily be Riyaa. May Allah save us. وَمَا أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِي ۚ إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّي ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." To enjoy people singing your praises is from Shaitan. When we recite Quran we should say O Allah i would not have the ability to even recite one letter without your tawfiq. It is from you only. If we say this then next time we will be given tawfiq to recite more. Don't ever forget the aakhirah! Remember that we will die one day. If you are happy once you have done a good deed, then it isn't ostentatious. This is because we should be happy when we have done a good deed, but not show off. Once a pious person asked a Shaikh, "I try my best to hide my good deeds, but every time I do a deed someone sees me" The Shaikh replied, then you get two deeds. The first: for the good deed. The second: the person will copy you and do it too. So you will receive this reward. Whenever we receive a blessing then we should thank Allah. It is only from His great bounty that you have received it. We should constantly thank Allah for all the blessings. We should recite الحمد لله الذي بعزته وجلاله تتم الصالحات We should think and pray that inshaAllah, if we thank Allah and believe that everything is only from His bounty, that inshaAllah at the time of death we will be at ease only through His bounty. May Allah give us the tawfiq
