The one who fears Allah will ask for forgiveness during his lifetime. We should ask for forgiveness constantly.
Think about your death, don't wait for your old age. You have seen many young people die. Take heed from them
O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
[Surah Hashr:18]
Hadhrat Hakeemul Ummat Thanvi RA says that when there is a gathering anywhere, you will find less people who are old and find many young people. This is because hardly anyone lives till an old age. Many people die whilst they are young.
If you want to be cured from an illness you have to drink the sour medicine. In the same way you have to try hard to stop sinning.
He (Allah) will say: "What number of years did you stay on earth?"
They will say: "We stayed a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep account."
He (Allah) will say: "You stayed not but a little, if you had only known!
"Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"
So Exalted be Allah, the True King: La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!
[Surah Muminoon]
When you go from here to the car, you don't know if you will be alive when you reach the car. What are we waiting for when we say we will ask for forgiveness later? Now is the time.
A pious predecessor took many years to complete the recitation of Surah Baqarah, due to his pondering on each ayah.
We don't even think about it.
If you do any good, do it yourself. Don't wait for others to do it like your children or family. Whatever good you can do make sure you do it. Giving one Dirham with your own hand is better than someone giving a hundred Dirham after your death.
Some pious predecessors used to give their zakat in advance for the next year [following the rules of Shariah], just incase they were to die before giving it.
May Allah give us the ability to think about the hereafter.
The Dunya has not stayed by anyone.
Don't give your heart to the world, but give it to the creator of world.
