Everything is good for the believer

Summary

*Summary of Iṣlāḥī Majlis by Shaykhul-Ḥadīth Ḥaḍrat Mawlāna Ādam ibn Yūsuf Ṣāḥib دامت بركاته*

9th August 2020 | 19th Dhul Ḥijjah 1441AH

_Suhaib (R.A) reported that Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: How wonderful is the case of the believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends to him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him. And if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is good for him". (Muslim 2999)_

𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

A human being will experience one of two situations; either we will be  in a state of prosperity and happiness, or we will be afflicted with trials and tribulations.  Throughout our lives, Allah ﷻ  showers us with His countless favours and blessings. It is important to remember that when we are blessed, we should express our gratitude to Allah ﷻ whilst in the case of trials and tribulations (such as the current global pandemic), we must endavour to endure it with patience. Patience can be expressed verbally by making Du'ā' thus:

["Oh Allah! I am pleased with whatever you have decided for me"]

Patience can also be expressed sincerely from the heart. Together with exercising patience, we should make Du'ā' for the ease of our trials. We are weak and we must express our needs before Allahﷻ.

We must also keep in mind that sometimes we may be given numerous blessings of Allah ﷻ, for example, excessive wealth, a good spouse, children etc. However when a trial  befall us, we become full of ungratefulness and utter words of complaints!

Sometimes, it is the case of parents who are such that they may complain excessively due to the delay in their child's marriage despite the fact that these things are in the hands of Allah ﷻ. Yet when Allah ﷻ  opens ways for them, they disobey Allah ﷻ by carrying out sinful acts in the wedding ceremony. Allah ﷻ speaks of such people saying:

_And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. (Yūnus 12)_

𝗗𝘂'𝗮̄' 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

We cry so much over our trials and look for things to pray to make our trials easy for us. Yet as soon as the trial gets lifted, we forget Allahﷻ. This should never be the case for a believer. Instead, we should have a balance between ṣabr and shukr. We should never complain about the occurrences of our lives. During moments of happiness, we should thank Allah ﷻ. A beautiful Du'ā' to make:

*اللهُمَّ أَرضِنِي بِقَضائِكَ وبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا قُدِّر لِيْ*

_O Allah make me happy with Your Will, and bless me in whatever has been destined for me"_ (Munājāt Maqbūl)

Exercising patience with physical pain such as headaches, back pain etc is also rewarding. We learn from the Aḥāīth that if we endure this pain with patience and pass away in such a state then in shā' Allah we will be blessed with Jannah in return!

Haḍrat Gangohi ṣaḥib (may Allah have mercy on him) who was a very great man, lost his eyesight during his lifetime. One of his disciples came to him asking him, ‘why don't you get an operation done? It will cure the blindness and return your eyesight.’ He responded, ‘No. Instead I am patiently hoping for the reward mentioned in the Ḥadīth: "Allah ﷻ says: ```when I afflict my slave with his two dear things (eyes) and he patiently endures, I shall then compensate him for them with Jannah"```(Bukhāri 5653). He would then lay in bed and spent the rest of his life abundantly reciting Durūd shareef and praying Tahajjud.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲

Another great Waliyyullāh was once travelling and heard a stone crying. He asked the stone, ‘why are you crying?’ It said, ‘I am crying due to the verse of Allahﷻ where He mentions about the Hellfire '....The fuel of which will be men and stones' (Surah Baqarah: Ayah 24).’ The man stepped aside and made Du'ā' to Allah ﷻ to protect this stone from the fire of Jahannam. Meanwhile a voice came to his ears calling out, ‘this stone will be safe from the fire of Jahannam'. The man informed the stone and the stone was overjoyed. A few days later, the man passed by the same stone and surprisingly the stone was crying again. The man asked ‘why are you crying now?’ The stone said, ‘these are tears of joy and gratitude to Allah.’ If we too can develop such qualities within us, we too can be successful.

If we thank Allah for our blessings Allah ﷻ will give us more. As Allah ﷻ says:

*(لئِن شَكَرتُمْ لأَزِيدَنَّكُم)*

_If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]._ (Ibrahīm, 7)

```May Allah ﷻ grant us the ability to practise on everything that has been said. Āmīn```
