عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
*"أَنَا وَامْرَأَةٌ سَفْعَاءُ الْخَدَّيْنِ كَهَاتَيْنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ". وَأَوْمَأَ يَزِيدُ بِالْوُسْطَى وَالسَّبَّابَةِ "امْرَأَةٌ آمَتْ مِنْ زَوْجِهَا ذَاتُمَنْصِبٍ وَجَمَالٍ حَبَسَتْ نَفْسَهَا عَلَى يَتَامَاهَا حَتَّى بَانُوا أَوْ مَاتُوا"*
Rasullullah ﷺ is reported to have said: I and a woman whose cheeks have become discoloured shall on the Day of Resurrection be like these two (pointing to the middle and forefinger), i.e. a woman of rank and beauty who has been bereft of her husband and devotes herself to her fatherless children till they go their separate ways or die.
Rasullullah ﷺ explains that a woman who is divorced or widowed and then dedicates her life to her children will be very close to Rasullullah ﷺ on the day of judgement. Despite her beauty and youth she never remarried. But she didn’t look at her needs and dedicated her life for the upbringing of her children until they became older and separated from her. She will be with the great pious people. She will not have to worry about anything on that day.
This hadith includes a woman if her husband has died or if he has divorced her and she has children.
Imagine the closeness to Rasullullah ﷺ on this day. The great sacrifice is keeping her chastity and modesty.
We should not start questioning and criticising this woman. We should understand her reasons. She is sacrificing herself for the good of her children in this world and the hereafter.
We wish to have this status that she has been given.
Rasullullah ﷺ has said “The best house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is well treated, and the worst house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is mistreated.”
We should treat orphans well. If we place our hands on an orphans head out of mercy then we will get rewarded for every hair strand that has touched our hand. InshaAllah
May Allah ﷻ give us tawfiq to act upon what has been said.
May Allah ﷻ give us the ability to walk on the straight path, the path that Rasullullah ﷺhas been sent with.
O Allah create women and men in the world who have love for orphans and give them from their own wealth.
