Taqwa
Thumaamah bin Abdullah radiyallahu anhu reports, “Anas bin Maalik RA did not refuse itr, and used to say that Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam never refused (the acceptance of) itr”
Abu Hurayrah radiyallahu anhu narrates: “Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, “The itr of a male is the fragrance of which spreads and has less colour in it (i.e. rose, kewrah etc.), and the itr of a female is that, which has more colour and less fragrance (hina, mendhi, za’faraan etc.)
Nowadays, it is important to check the ingredients of any perfume offered to you, as there is alcohol in many perfumes.
Taqwa is the main thing. Have fear of Allah SWT.
For example, if a person is walking on a path which has thorns on the sides, and his clothes are loose, then he will be very careful the way he walks.
In the same way, be wary of falling into sin.
When people start doing a lot of ibadah, they start thinking about others, "Why is so-and-so not doing it?" etc. This is pride. Always remember that all ibadah is from the bounty of Allah SWT, not from yourself.
ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction[16:125]
If you don't have taqwa and the fear of Allah SWT then you can easily have pride in your deeds. Remember, all your deeds are from the bounty of Allah SWT.
Shaikh Saadi RA mentions a story in his book:
Hadhrat Isa AS had a khadim who was dressed in clean clothes. There was a man walking towards them, who was dressed in dirty clothes. So the khadim made dua quielty "O Allah SWT we had to see this dirty man in this world, please don't show us his face in the aakhirah". Whilst he was thinking this, the dirty man who was coming towards them was making dua, "O Allah SWT, make me like these people, they are so pious to be the khadim of a prophet!". Allah SWT sent a revelation to Hadhrat Isa AS saying, inform your khadim that his dua has been accepted! He will be in Hell and this dirty looking man will be in heaven, so he will not have to see his face in the hereafter!
These are the effects of pride! May Allah SWT save us.
When we have a high status or start doing a lot of good deeds, we start having pride.
Be humble, Allah SWT loves humility. There are some people that live through months of their life without asking for forgiveness from Allah SWT. This is because they spend their time in good deeds and therefore assume that they are sinless. This is a great illness!
“I am with those whose hearts are broken for My sake.” [Hadith Qudsi] Allah is with those whose hearts are broken for His sake.
O Allah SWT, those who are ill sure them.
O Allah SWT give us khatima bilkhair
O Allah SWT help us at the time of death
O Allah SWT, give us barakah at the time of our death
O Allah SWT grant us from Your Bounty
