Sayyiduna Anas ibn Mālik ra narrates, “Jibrīl came to the Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ while he was seated in a state of grief, stained with blood by the doing of Quraysh from the people of Makkah. Jibrīl said “O Messenger of Allah, do you wish that I show you a sign (which will be a sign of your prophethood and messengership, and which will console you that enduring these difficulties for the sake of Allah will serve to raise your ranks and levels)?” He said “Yes.” So Jibrīl looked towards a tree behind him and said “Call it.” The Prophet ‎ﷺ called the tree and it came and stood before him. Then Jibrīl said “Order it to return.” He ordered it so, and it returned. Then the Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ said “This is enough for me, this is enough for me.”

(By ‘This is enough for me, this is enough for me’, the Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ meant that this favour from Allah , is enough for him)

This is one of the many miracles of Rasullullah ‎ﷺ.

Hadhrat Anas ra was a specific khadim of Rasullullah ‎ﷺ. He would stay with Rasullullah ‎ﷺ a lot of the time and he has witnessed many occurrences.

Why was Rasullullah ‎ﷺ upset?

Because of the extreme troubles that the disbelievers of Makkah gave, so much that he was covered in blood.

And also because he was putting so much effort into guiding them to the straight path trying to save them from jahannam and they were harming him in return.

Rasullullah ‎ﷺ had such a great status. But he still had troubles that he endured with patience. From this we learn that when we want to gain a high status in the eyes of Allah ‎ﷻ, attain jannah and achieve the pleasure of Allah ‎ﷻ then we have to endure troubles with patience. Sometimes there will be grief too. Look at the apparent hardships Rasullullah ‎ﷺwent through despite his great status and how he endured so much with patience.

Once in Makkah Mukarramah, Rasullullah ‎ﷺ came to haram shareef and he said Allahu akbar and he went into sujud. The sujud of Rasullullah ‎ﷺ was long. So the disbelievers decided to get some dirt from the camels insides and place it on him ‎ﷺ. Sayyidatuna Fatima ra found out and came quickly to remove this dirt.

This is the hardship that Rasullullah ‎ﷺ went through.

We are scared with a little trouble that comes to us.

There are many lessons in this hadith for us.

when you decide to dedicate your life to the work of deen, understand that it is not the work of a day or two but the hard-work of a lifetime. Sometimes you may have to stay hungry or leave some enjoyment. But these troubles do come to us but then they come with their own benefits. For example duas are accepted in an amazing way. The sahaba went through so many troubles but then if you look at their lives then whenever they made dua it would be instantly accepted.

We need to appreciate and understand the greatness of our nabi ‎ﷺ. At least every morning we need to thank Allah ‎ﷻ that “O Allah you have given me so many blessings. And the greatest blessing is that you have given me imaan and also made me from the ummah of Rasullullah ‎ﷺ.”

Abu Lahab who was such a close relative to Rasullullah ‎ﷺ was not given the blessing of imaan. But we 1400+ years later have imaan by the mercy of Allah ‎ﷻ. We are able to recite the Quran, understand the Ahadeeth, make our children understand too. These are great blessings.

We should thank Allah ‎ﷻ for this daily. It will take less than a minute.

When someone endures with patience then Allah ‎ﷻ gives him so much peace in this world and amazing rewards in the hereafter.

O Allah we don’t ask for troubles, we are very weak.

May Allah ‎ﷻ give us the ability to act upon what has been advised.

O Allah accept our discussion on the hadith. Forgive our shortcomings in this.

O Allah grant us from Your mercy. Make us be grateful to You.

O Allah give us the good of this world and the hereafter.

O Allah grant us Khatima bil khair.
