اپنا دین باقی رکھنا ہو تو بزرگانے دین کی کوئی بھی بات نہ کرو If you want to be steadfast on deen, don’t talk (negatively) about the pious people -Hadhrat Maulana Adam Sahib Hafizahullah Even Imam Bukhari رَحِمَهُ الله, Imam Abu Hanifa رَحِمَهُ الله and Imam Shafiee رَحِمَهُ الله had great differences in opinions. They have even mentioned this in their books, but there was nothing negative in their hearts. They were merely expressing a difference of opinion. When Hadhrat Maulana Adam Sahib Hafizahullah was a student in Darul Uloom Deoband, Hadhrat Thanwi رَحِمَهُ الله and Hadhrat Madani رَحِمَهُ الله had a difference of opinion. The pious people of the time said don’t spend so much time over discussing the difference of opinion. “Respect Hadhrat Madani رَحِمَهُ الله and Hadhrat Thanwi رَحِمَهُ الله the same. You will not be asked regarding how Hadhrat Thanwi رَحِمَهُ الله or Hadhrat Madani رَحِمَهُ الله were. But, if you do say something negative about any of these great shuyukh, this is what you will be questioned on. And all your deeds will be useless afterwards.” This is why, don’t ever say anything negatively about any great shuyukh. Hadhrat Maulana Adam Sahib Hafizahullah says, “I shiver whenever I hear anyone say anything about Ulama”. (Meaning it’s a fine line to walk on i.e. dangerous ). It says in the Quran that no matter what amaal we have done, if we disrespect the prophet ﷺ, then ان تحبط اعمالكم (meaning:) all of your actions are useless, the reward has gone,disappeared and you won’t even realise This ayah is to do with Nabi ﷺ His ﷺ true followers and true lovers also have a part in this. So we shouldn’t even come close to disrespecting them May Allah ﷻ grant us the tawfiq to respect the pious and have good thoughts and strong belief in our pious elders. The belief in the pious elders will take us toward the belief in the friends of Allah ﷻ and this will take us toward the belief in the sahaba which will help us have stronger belief in the beloved prophet ﷺ.
